I have always been a student- since I was 4, nearly 5 years old, I have been the student in the classroom. As I work through this assignment I have the realization I am on my way to become the teacher. I cannot help to think back to the Karate Kid and the line of, “When Student becomes Master”. I will have the ability to change lives and teach students about what I am passionate about, history! It is a surreal feeling to look at the actions I have taken to learn about World History and now it is my turn to share my passion with my nephew (for this classes lesson, and a classroom in the future). I had a great time breaking down the lesson plan, unpacking the standards and really deep diving into the topics themselves to challenge my nephew.
I, as a new teacher, had no idea the actions and steps required for teachers in a classroom. Through-out this 8-week course I have grown a vast amount of respect for the amount of work teachers commit to during and after school for each student. With that being said, I also had no idea the amount of team work required to ensure every student is provided the same opportunity to be successful.
I am proud of the hard work and dedications teachers have and cannot wait to be a part of a winning team that will forever impact student’s lives.
